Workshop: Dhrupad & Indian Sound Meditation - Haus ANUBHAB, KölnSunday, 14. October 201210:00-12:30 Uhr |
Dhrupad Vocal Workshop and Indian Sound Meditation
Dhrupad is the oldest form of North-Indian classical music and originated from the recitation of the sacred syllable Om and the Vedic sutras.
A meditative style where the singer explores the raga with very slow melodic movements, using syllables taken from an old sanskrit Mantra.
In this workshop the focus will be on:
- Indian vocal techniques
- intonation
- simple improvisation
- sound meditation
With the help of simple vocal techniques you will become conscious of sound, inner peace and silence.
Sound meditation can help to create the space you need to focus on what is important for you.
Marianne Svašek is one of the few women who practices Dhrupad. She studied Indian classical singing and Sarangi, since 1994 she is being taught in India by Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar.
She graduated cum laude in both disciplines at the Rotterdam Conservatory where she is presently teaching.
Saturday October 14 at 10h-12.30h
Admission: 25€
(Concert on Friday, 13th Oct + Workshop: 32€ )
